The Hawaiian Horn Sections

Hawaii horn sectionsSpending some time in beautiful Waikiki, rejuvenating my brain. Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to enjoy an Aloha Festival Parade down Kalakaua Avenue, looking out toward the ocean, on a picture-perfect day. Jessica and I were properly perched at Cheeseburger in Paradise, so the parade route was right in front of us.

There was sea after sea of saxophones, clarinets, and trumpets. A few Sousaphones, and drums, to boot. Honolulu is doing its part to develop new talent to fill horn sections, everywhere.

Saturday night, we had a light dinner at the Gordon Biersch Brewery at Aloha Tower Marketplace. To our delight, we were able to sit outside, enjoy the tradewinds, and listen to the jazz/funk of Night Train, a local favorite. From the Gap Band to Mercy, Mercy, Mercy, we were right at home.
